Upon arrival at the Limon port, your dedicated driver is ready to initiate your journey with a scenic drive along the Caribbean Coast, passing Banana Plantations and charming villages, ultimately leading to Cahuita National Park.
This exceptional national park is a habitat for numerous captivating species, including charming howler monkeys, leisurely sloths, formidable iguanas, inquisitive spectacled caimans, magnificent toucans, elusive snakes, and more wildlife.
The beaches, adorned with lush jungle vegetation, set the stage for a picturesque exploration. Towering ancient trees, spanning from the expansive swamp forest to the extensive coral reefs along the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, evoke a sense of timelessness and wonder.
Following the park visit and a leisurely lunch break, our journey extends to the renowned Jaguar Rescue Center, a sanctuary for mistreated, injured, orphaned, and confiscated animals. The center's commitment extends to animals, including monkeys, sloths, snakes, wild cats, and numerous bird species. Many of these animals have endured injuries from vehicles, electrical lines, and poaching or have been left orphaned as helpless babies.
The Jaguar Rescue Center tour allows visitors to learn about the rehabilitation process, safely meet some of the animals, and gain insights into the wildlife conservation challenges faced in the region.
Continuing our expedition, we visited Playa Cocles, celebrated for its excellent waves and beautiful beaches lined with regal palms. It offers a perfect spot for those seeking shade, with a stretch of grass for laying towels. The cerulean water and incredible rock formations a few meters offshore create the ideal setting for memorable ocean photos.
Despite its popularity, Playa Cocles remains crowded for a good reason: it's a picture-perfect location. After enjoying Playa Cocles, we will return to the cruise port and, if time permits, visit some noteworthy highlights in Puerto Limón, such as the statue of Christopher Columbus, before concluding our journey at the cruise port!
