Jungle Lodges of Finca Taykü Land – What to Expect?

Johnny Abraham is the owner of Tencio (Finca Taykü Land). He has been living on the other side of the Bananito River all his life; his father is from Spain, mom is indigenous to Bribri. In the old days, their family was famous for their farming skills.

The Finca is one of the best Costa Rica rainforest lodges; the Finca is over 240 acres of jungle rainforest and is located in a relatively remote area (close to Puerto Limon and Cahuita’, surrounded by lots of tropical nature, and Johnny is genuinely concerned with environmental sustainability.

On the riverside, there is a place to barbecue or jump off the ridge right into the current of the Bananito River.

There is a big wooden Rancho with thatched leaves,  where Johnny lives with their wife and daughter. This is where you will be welcomed, food will be cooked, and preparations will start for the first excursion and tours.

From there is a path leading out of the garden area with a cabin into the secondary rainforest. It was farmland approximately 40 years ago. Nevertheless, it has already become a pretty diverse wilderness. Trees grow amazingly fast in these tropical regions.

As the trail now gets more narrow, the surroundings intensify. Sometimes sounds surprise you,s or is it just the humidity that makes you sweat? Imagine if it rains. This is the real thing. Deeper into the Taykü Land, Johnny has its waterfall, where you can take a fresh dip.

Costa Rica Rainforest Lodges | About Finca Taykü Land

The Finca Taykü Land, together with neighbor Finca van Maare, exists over 240 acres of jungle properties.

When you cross over the Bananito River, the terrain starts with a secondary rainforest. It was farmland approximately 40 years ago; nevertheless, it has become a diverse wilderness. Trees grow amazingly fast in these tropical regions. Here are the ranchos built in harmony with nature.

The owners of Finca Taykü and Finca van Maare protect this tropical rainforest together from hunting and logging. This makes the place flourish with flora and fauna, serving as a cradle of biodiversity.

Historically interesting, there must have been indigenous people living on these lands for centuries. Some archeological discoveries have been made. The Fincas have been visited by biologists, as well as ecologists, in the last 20 years for their research projects or as a ground basis for research in the area of District Limón and Canton Talamanca.

Further upwards on the Finca, you will arrive at the primary rainforested foothills of the Caribbean slope. Far and more profound and higher up the land, Finca Tayku even has its own waterfall.

The primary and secondary rainforest of Finca Taykü land and neighbor Finca van Maare inherent also (hosts) lots of wildlife, with a large variety of species of  mammals, birds, insects, snakes, frogs, river turtles, and even
reptiles, like the spectacled caiman, and it seems once upon a while a Jaguar, but do not expect to meet one; they cover big territories (although we found Jaguar scratch marks).

During the tours, you will be encountered the lush nature, wildlife, flora, and fauna of this secondary and primary Jungle Rainforest.

Fresh Water Source and Waterfall

It is not necessary to drink bottled water. The Finca had its own freshwater sources. The drinking water comes from several springs uphill, the quality has been tested and is pure and fresh, and healthy water, free from agrochemicals, and there are no cattle whose feces might pollute it.

As the Finca Taykü Land borders the Bananito River, you can enjoy a
variety of swimming spots. The Finca even has its own Waterfall deep inside) the rainforest. The Bananito River relieves the tropical
heat even more after doing some activities, like hiking tours (or working on the land).

Costa Rica Eco Lodges – Finca Tayku Jungle Lodges

On the Finca Taykü Land, there are different jungle lodges to stay. Finca Taky offers affordable and all-inclusive jungle lodges, which belong to the best of Costa Rica rainforest lodges in the affordable price range, in the middle of the real jungle, next to the river and its own waterfall.
