Cahuita Night Tour | Rainforest Hike
The Cahuita night tour in Costa Rica, in the rainforest nearby the forest and park of Cahuitaa and is a great way to discover a wide variety of nocturnal animals living in the tropical coastal rainforest in the vicinity of the village.
As Cahuita National Park is closed, the tour is near Cahuita village of private property in the Rainforest.
This surrounding area wakes me up at night. The darkness gives the hike a completely different feeling. You will experience the eye reflex that facilitates the recognition of animals. The noises are louder, and the animals are more.

From there, we start looking for animals along the village’s coast. We can observe owls, bats, night herons, and other animals that have just awakened. Diversity is excellent; there is always something new to discover.
A little further on our route, we pass the park entrance, closed at night. So, we follow a path that leads along its border. Here, we may discover a caiman eye reflex with flashlights, snakes, frogs, and much more nightlife. We also visit private property protecting old forests and giant trees.
After about an hour of wandering through the darkness, we stand still, listen to the countless noises, and enjoy a homemade chocolate treat. We are halfway there.
The big trees of the forest hide tarantulas and sleeping lizards; with a bit of luck, we see the Kinkajou (night monkey). The forest floor is teeming with critters.
