The 2nd best Cahuita Fishing, as the name suggests, is fishing vertically dropping a line straight down from a boat and trying to get the fish to bite. Using a jig lure or a fish as dead or, if possible, sometimes live bait is best. This method is also known as jigging.
Often, shrimps are used as bait. However, we often use a combination of shrimp and sardines.
Pricing is based on a group size of 4. However, it is possible to go vertical fishing with only two people. In that case, the price will be $90 per person. If the group size is a maximum of 6 people, the cost is $60 per person.

Fish often caught include Snapper, Grouper, Mackerel, Amberjacks, and many other species.
The tour starts at 4:30 AM [latest 04:45 AM]. After being introduced to the Fishing Captain, you will leave before sunrise to go to the best fishing waters of Cahuita, near the Cahuita Marine Park. We do not fish at the protected reef of the Cahuita Marine Park, but we do fish nearby at the best fishing spots, depending on the fishing technique.
Depending on the fishing tour, the captain shows local techniques for catching bait fish with fishing nets; for live bait fishing, Sardines are caught. In vertical, also called bottom fishing, the bait is usually shrimp, but often also Sardines.
