This full-day hike at Cahuita National Park, is a very popular cruise costa rica tour, starting at the Puerto Vargas entrance, covers approximately 5 miles around Cahuita Point and profoundly explores the park’s rich biodiversity. Along the trail, we’ll take breaks at crucial spots to relax, enjoy fresh fruit snacks, and take a refreshing dip in the sea.

The first part of the hike leads through an ancient rainforest, where towering trees are adorned with epiphytes. Walking along the elevated trail through this swampy forest, you might spot vibrant blue morpho butterflies fluttering by.

The park is home to a fascinating array of wildlife, including playful howler monkeys, raccoons, coatis, sloths, impressive iguanas, curious spectacled caimans, colorful toucans, and elusive snakes, such as the amazing yellow viper.

What makes this park unique is not only its abundant wildlife but also its extraordinary flora. Framed by dense jungle vegetation, the beaches provide a breathtaking setting as you explore. Our experienced tour guides offer a range of adventurous activities, including wildlife tours, hiking, and trekking. The park is also home to the largest fringing coral reef in Costa Rica’s Caribbean, which is protected and can only be accessed with a licensed tour guide. This reef, stretching 5 km from Punta Cahuita’s western side to the east, features three barriers and is separated from the shore by 100 meters to 2 miles.

The coral reef is a nesting ground for sea turtles and teeming with marine life. When snorkeling or scuba diving, you’ll encounter over 240 aquatic species, including tropical fish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, manta rays, and even three types of sharks. The reef boasts at least 35 species of coral, over 120 fish species, and numerous mollusks and crustaceans.
